Two-time Stanley Cup winner Russian goalkeeper Sergey Bobrovsky joined the National Hockey League (NHL) club Toronto Maple Leafs as a free agent. This was announced on July 1 by journalist Elliott Friedman on the social network X.

It is noted that the 38-year-old goalkeeper's contract runs until 2029, and the average salary will be about $7 million per season.

Since 2019, Bobrovsky has played for the Florida Panthers, with whom he won the Stanley Cup twice in 2024 and 2025. He previously played in the NHL for the Philadelphia Flyers and Columbus Blue Jackets, and also represented SKA during the lockout in the Kontinental Hockey League.

He has 806 NHL regular season matches and 456 wins to his credit, which is the best record among Russian goalkeepers. Bobrovsky twice won the Vezina Trophy as the best goalkeeper of the season.

As a member of the Russian national team, he became the 2014 world champion, and also won silver in 2015 and bronze in 2016.

The Salavat Yulaev club announced on June 9 that Vadim Shipachev, the best scorer in the history of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), will continue his career at the Ufa club. It was clarified that the 39-year-old striker would sign a one-year contract with the club.
