FSB detained a man in Krasnodar for treason

In the Krasnodar Territory, FSB officers detained a man who is accused of treason. This was announced on June 30 by the press service of the Office of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Krasnodar Territory.

"The Federal Security Service of Russia for the Krasnodar Territory has identified and suppressed the illegal activities of a Russian citizen, the accused
of high treason in the form of providing financial assistance to a foreign state in activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation," the statement said.

The report noted that a resident of Krasnodar got acquainted with information about collecting money for Ukrainian armed forces under the guise of selling goods through a messenger. It is indicated that the man was a supporter of the Ukrainian nationalist ideology. He decided to provide financial support to Ukraine through the purchase of goods of the specified formation. The ministry stressed that the accused was aware that the funds sent would be used to arm the nationalist association.

The Investigative Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Krasnodar Territory opened a criminal case against the man under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("High treason in the form of financial assistance to a foreign state in activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation").

It is noted that the punishment under this article may include life imprisonment.

On the same day, a 51-year-old local resident was detained in Donetsk, who is suspected of publicly calling for extremism. According to investigators, the man repeatedly posted calls for ethnic violence on the Telegram messenger. The detainee admitted that against the background of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine on the settlement of the conflict, he called for the "burning" of Russians. A criminal case has been opened against the man under Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code of Russia "Public calls for extremist activities."
