The UK government has announced that people who have received asylum in the country will have to return about 10 thousand pounds for accommodation and maintenance after starting work. Interior Minister Shabana Mahmoud announced this on June 29.

"Supporting people who have received asylum is not only a right, but also a duty. As soon as people are able to contribute and repay the generosity of the British people, we expect them to do so," the BBC News channel quoted the minister as saying.

It clarifies that adult migrants with refugee status or indefinite residence permit will have to pay this amount gradually before they can apply for a permanent residence permit. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has not yet determined the income threshold required to start monthly payments, but it will have the right to adjust the amount of the fee in the future.

On June 20, the leader of the Christian Social Union, the Prime Minister of Bavaria, Markus Zeder, proposed to stop paying Burggergeld unemployment benefits to Ukrainian citizens in Germany. Zeder also called for an increase in the number of deportations of migrants and voluntary departure to reduce budget costs.
