Evstigneeva stated Russia's desire to achieve its goals through diplomacy
Russia would prefer to achieve the goals of a special military operation (SVO) by diplomatic means. This was announced on June 29 by Anna Evstigneeva, Acting Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations.
"It would, of course, be preferable to achieve our goals and objectives through political and diplomatic means. However, realistic solutions that take into account Russia's legitimate interests are currently not visible. As long as the intention of Western countries to inflict a strategic defeat on us and restrain the development of our country remains unchanged, Russia will continue to resist these attempts by military means," she said during a meeting of the UN Security Council.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an article for Politico Europe on June 19 that Russia prefers diplomacy to achieve the goals of a special military operation. To do this, Lavrov said, it is necessary to guarantee Russia's reliable security on its western borders, as well as ensure the rights and dignity of citizens and compatriots.
