- The Kremlin announced the adjustment of the duties of Putin's advisers under Gagloev.
The duties of advisers to Russian President Vladimir Putin will be adjusted due to the appointment of former South Ossetian leader Alan Gagloev to this post. This was announced on June 24 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"Adjustments and necessary additions will be made, the distribution of responsibilities of management and administration will be made, and we will issue an appropriate document," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
According to Peskov, Gagloev's specific areas of responsibility in his new job at the presidential administration have not yet been determined. In addition, during a press conference at the XII Primakov Readings International Expert Forum, the Russian leader's press secretary stressed that Gagloev's appointment had nothing to do with the possible annexation of South Ossetia to Russia.
The day before, Gagloev accepted Putin's offer to become his adviser. He also announced that he was leaving the post of president of South Ossetia. Interim duties of the head of the republic will be assigned to the Chairman of the Government of South Ossetia, Marat Kambolov, who has many years of experience in the federal authorities of Russia.
In May 2026, Kambolov was appointed state adviser to the President of South Ossetia, and on June 16 he became chairman of the government of the republic after his candidacy was supported by parliament.
