According to the notice of the US Department of Defense on the conclusion of the contract published on June 23, the Pentagon has concluded an additional agreement with Lockheed Martin to the contract in the amount of $8.4 billion.

"Lockheed Martin <...> has received an additional agreement for the amount of $8,402,489,648," the publication says.

It is noted that the agreement provides for "an increase in the limit and an extension of the order placement period" to increase the production capacity of high-precision strike missiles.

As a result of the modification, the total nominal value of the contract is $13,339,535,048. The contract provides for the supply of missiles, as well as funds to ensure initial operational readiness and conduct development work, which will be completed by the end of fiscal year 2032. All missiles will be aimed at the US Army's Redstone arsenal in Alabama.

CNN, citing data from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), reported on June 21 that the Pentagon's costs for a military operation against Iran amount to at least $40 billion. As CSIS senior Adviser Mark Kancian told CNN, this amount includes the cost of ammunition, lost equipment and the restoration of military bases. At the same time, the estimate does not include operational costs, which are already provided for in the budget of the US Department of Defense for fiscal year 2026. The total defense budget exceeds $1 trillion.
