The case was opened after the capsizing of a boat with three people on board in Kamchatka.

A criminal case has been opened in the Kamchatka Territory after a boat capsized with three men on board, the search for whom has not yet yielded any results. This is reported by the Eastern Interregional SU for Transport of the Russian Investigative Committee.

The investigation believes that the ship capsized on the evening of June 22 in the waters of the Avacha Bay of the Pacific Ocean near the island of Starichkov and Cape Dangerous. There were a boatmaster and two passengers on board, all of them ended up in the water and presumably drowned.

The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of marine transport, which negligently resulted in the death of two or more persons." An investigation is underway.

According to the regional prosecutor's office, the men were traveling from the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Avacha Bay for fishing. Information about the capsizing of the boat was received by rescuers via radio on the night of June 23. KamchatkaMedia news agency clarifies that one of the fishermen was also able to radio his wife and inform her about the incident.

As morning fell, a Mi-8 helicopter from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and a tugboat from the Maritime Rescue Service joined the search, which was conducted at night by volunteers. The capsized vessel was found from the air, there were no people inside.

The search operation in the Avacha Bay will continue. On June 24, the boat "Leader" of the search and rescue squad of the Ministry of Emergency Situations is to join her. On the first morning, the GIMS Center's Marlin boat was also expected to arrive, but it could not get close to the search area due to high waves in open water.
