Australia will allocate Ukraine another $ 70 million for the purchase of weapons

Australia will provide Ukraine with another 100 million Australian dollars ($70 million) for the purchase of weapons and ammunition. This was announced on June 19 by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Australia Richard Marles.

In a statement by the head of the defense department, published on the website of the country's Ministry of Defense, it is indicated that the allocated funds will be used to purchase critical military equipment through the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) mechanism, created with the support of NATO.

"The Australian government will provide Ukraine with additional assistance in the amount of 100 million Australian dollars for critical military equipment. <...> In partnership with NATO, Australia supports Ukraine in providing critical military equipment, including anti—aircraft capabilities and ammunition," the publication says.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said on June 18 that Germany intends to supply Ukraine with a three–digit number of air-to-air missiles from its own reserves. He specified that Berlin would allocate an additional $400 million for the purchase of American weapons for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
