In Khabarovsk, a court convicted a married couple who were accused of transporting 275 kg of sturgeon. The court of first instance refused to confiscate the property of the accused, but the prosecutor's office obtained a retrial.

The Court of Cassation granted the complaint and recovered from the perpetrators more than 5.7 million rubles in state revenue as compensation for damage.

According to IA AmurMedia, with reference to the press service of the regional prosecutor's office, a Toyota car was confiscated from the couple.
It was established that in June 2023, a married couple bought more than 275 pieces of fish from the sturgeon family in order to sell them later.

They loaded the fish into an SUV and transported it from Komsomolsk-on-Amur to the village of Krasnoznamenka in the Khabarovsk region. There they were stopped by traffic police officers. They seized the hidden fish.

The perpetrators were sentenced to imprisonment for a period of 5 years and 6 months to be served in a correctional colony of general regime, as well as to a fine of 200 thousand rubles. For the woman, the real punishment was postponed until her child turns 14.

Earlier it was reported that a criminal investigation into the illegal storage of aquatic biological resources had been completed in the Khabarovsk Territory. The charge was brought against a 42-year-old resident of Amursk. During the search, pieces of sturgeon and containers of black caviar were found in his possession. The total weight of the delicacies exceeded 15 kg.
