An understanding of the need for a healthy lifestyle should be instilled from childhood. This was announced on June 13 by Leo Bokeria, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, chief freelance specialist of the cardiovascular surgeon of the Ministry of Health, President of the All-Russian public organization League of National Health.

"A child should be taught not only to read and write, draw and play music, but also to live, eat, and exercise properly," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He added that the primary task of parents, which many forget, is to form a common human culture, including the idea of the need to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Medical Xpress magazine reported on June 8 that a child's lack of sleep at an early age significantly increases the likelihood of depressive states during adolescence. Experts analyzed the data of 15,589 people. It turned out that 2% of children who regularly slept less than normal had an approximately doubled risk of developing depression between the ages of 13 and 22.
