The electrohydraulic power steering pump can overheat and potentially cause a car fire, even if the car is parked with the ignition off, the regulator said.

The recall concerns some Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator models from 2021-2025, the agency added. As part of the troubleshooting, dealers will check and replace the necessary components free of charge.

Separately, Stellantis is recalling more than 17,000 more vehicles in the United States due to a battery defect that can lead to a fire, including when the engine is turned off, the NHTSA reported.

Last month, the automaker recalled more than 419,000 vehicles due to a problem with the incorrect actuation of the side airbags.
