On June 7, Colombian President Gustavo Petro, in response to criticism of his government, wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter) Nazi greeting.

The Colombian leader reacted to the publication of the newspaper El Spectador. It was written by the columnist of the publication Felippe Lleras using the Gemini AI neural network, asking the chatbot which president the republic needs. Artificial intelligence (AI) replied that Colombia can return to the "right path" only if the opposition candidate from the conservative party, Abelardo de la Espriella, comes to power.

"Heil Hitler," Petro responded.

He did not provide any other comments. The Colombian president's post immediately drew criticism in the comments. Even the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to Petro's post, saying that he had "completely lost his moral bearings," and called his words an indelible stain on Colombia's heritage.

Petro said on May 10 that the name of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could become one of the names of those who carried out the genocide of the peoples of the Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortez and Adolf Hitler, whose actions led to the deaths of millions of people. This is how he commented on an article by the Spanish newspaper El País.
