The world has become hostage to decisions made in the interests of technological, military and financial corporations, while international institutions and organizations have turned into zombies. This opinion was expressed by Igor Sechin, Executive Secretary of the Commission under the President of Russia on the Development Strategy of the Fuel and Energy Complex and Environmental Safety, head of Rosneft.

During his speech at the Energy Panel at the XXIX St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, he noted that there was evidence of an attempt to replace the global legal system with the legal system of one country. "International institutions such as the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the nuclear arms limitation system and others have turned from regulators into zombies," Sechin said during a speech with the report "The beginning of the end or the end of the Beginning: what remains at the bottom of Pandora's box."

The United Nations is now on the verge of bankruptcy, having no funds to pay salaries to employees. The U.S. debt to the United Nations has exceeded four billion dollars, and more than 30 other countries are among the debtors. "The very functioning of this organization is under threat," Sechin warned. At the same time, the global economy has become hostage to "political decisions that are made in the interests of large corporations," which have formed a "vicious circle of beneficiaries," he added.

According to Sechin, the use of armed forces has been added to such instruments of influence as pandemics, disruption of supply chains, sanctions, embargoes, interference in internal affairs, political provocations, economic strangulation, seizure of ships, undermining pipelines and organizing coups. "Disasters are always the result of a combination of factors, only a part of which can be predicted and taken into account," he noted, adding that "when decisions are made solely based on one's own benefit, a forecast is impossible."
