There have been 312 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.

Over the past day, 312 road accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 29 people were killed and 367 injured. 25 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on June 5 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 74 accidents involving pedestrians, four people were killed, and 74 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured are 18 child pedestrians, 12 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway in designated areas, which means that it was the fault of drivers or their own carelessness, the department noted. Of the total number of pedestrian incidents, 32 occurred at pedestrian crossings and 42 outside their area of operation.

17 bus accidents were recorded, in which one person was killed, and another 18 road users needed medical attention. 11 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles. 55 accidents involving minors were registered, 59 young road users were injured, including 22 passengers, 17 child drivers, six of whom were driving motor vehicles. Three children were killed: a pedestrian, a passenger in a car and a passenger on a pit bike.

So, in the morning in Moscow, in one of the courtyards, a 67-year-old car driver ran over a two-year-old boy who had previously been playing on the playground at home accompanied by his mother, but suddenly left her and ran into the roadway. The motorist did not have time to react to his sudden appearance in front of him, the child died. The driver initially fled the scene, but was soon tracked down by police officers.

In the Republic of Tatarstan, on 32 km of the Naberezhnye Chelny —Sarmanovo regional highway, a 19-year-old car driver who received the right to drive last fall drove into the oncoming lane in a prohibited place, where he collided with another passenger car driven by a 71-year-old man. The accident killed the culprit of the car accident, his passenger and a nine-year-old passenger of the second car, who was transported in the back seat using a seat belt, but without a child restraint device. The elderly driver and the 12-year-old sister of the deceased girl, as well as another passenger in the first car, were hospitalized with injuries. The injured young passenger was also wearing a seat belt in the back seat of her car at the time of the collision.

In Maykop (Republic of Adygea), a 14-year-old schoolboy in a motorcycle helmet, driving a cross-country motorcycle without a driver's license, did not provide an advantage in traffic at an unregulated intersection when leaving a secondary road onto the main road and collided with a passenger car. As a result of the accident, a second teenager was killed: a passenger of a pit bike, who was being transported by his driver of the same age without a motorcycle helmet. The young motorcyclist himself was sent for outpatient treatment after receiving medical treatment.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate called on parents to strictly monitor and stop attempts by children and teenagers to get behind the wheel on their own during a long summer break from school, as well as to exclude for them the possibility of accessing the keys of cars, mopeds and motorcycles, prohibiting driving cars and motor vehicles without rights and skills.

Administrative responsibility is provided for the provision of the opportunity to drive vehicles for children who do not have a driver's license of the appropriate category. Minors can drive mopeds and motorcycles on public roads no earlier than the age of 16 after completing training and obtaining a driver's license. Cross-country motorcycles and pitbikes, which are sports equipment, should only be used on specialized tracks and only for motor sports. Their design does not include headlights and turn signals, which is why they are almost invisible to drivers of other vehicles at night. It is strictly forbidden to use them on ordinary roads, as well as in populated areas.

"In addition, the State Traffic Inspectorate urges motorists to strictly follow the rules of the road and be more attentive on the roads of settlements and cities. Special care should be taken by people driving when driving through courtyards and residential areas, as well as maneuvering on them. Remember that the behavior of preschool and primary school-age pedestrian children is often unpredictable, so you are always ready to respond to a possible change in the traffic situation at any moment," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

The death rate in road accidents is planned to be reduced by one and a half times by 2030.

As reported on June 2, in 2025, there was a 4.1% decrease in the number of accidents in Russia involving drivers who were intoxicated or refused to undergo a medical examination, and almost 13.4 thousand such accidents occurred at the end of the year.
