Dmitry Mazepin, the head of the Russian Aquatics Federation, hopes that Russian athletes will be able to compete at the 2028 Games under state symbols. He expressed this opinion on June 4 at the "Towards the 2028 Olympics" session at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"I would like to have many of our athletes here after 2028, who will perform well at the Olympics. The Russian national anthem will be played in their honor. And we will be proud and say, "This is our elite," Mazepin said.

Recently, the situation with the participation of Russian athletes in international competitions has been gradually changing for the better. Some international federations have begun to ease restrictions, and some domestic athletes have already been granted the right to compete under the national flag at a number of tournaments.

Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports and head of the Russian Olympic Committee, said at the "Towards the 2028 Olympics" session at the SPIEF that the Russian Federation is fully returning to the international sports arena. According to him, all restrictions have been completely lifted from the Russian Paralympic team.
