Gutsan highly appreciated the development of relations between the supervisory authorities of the Russian Federation and Abkhazia

Russian Prosecutor General Alexander Gutsan, during a meeting with his Abkhaz counterpart, Adhur Agrba, highly appreciated the long-term development of relations between the supervisory authorities of the two countries. This was reported on June 4 on the website of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

During the negotiations held at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026), the head of the Russian supervisory authority recalled the successful implementation of three cooperation programs. The parties signed the fourth joint action plan for 2027-2028, which covers a number of significant areas, including the digitalization of the activities of the prosecutor's office.

"An important step in the development of a constructive interdepartmental dialogue will be the approval of an agreement on cooperation between military prosecutor's offices. They provide for joint events and information exchange on issues of mutual interest," the Russian Prosecutor General said.

Gutan stressed that work in the spirit of mutual respect and support for strengthening law and order in Russia and Abkhazia will continue.

"I appreciate the current level of cooperation with my Abkhaz colleagues and I am sure that it will develop successfully. I want to once again confirm the openness of the Russian prosecutor's office to conduct a professional dialogue on a wide variety of issues," he said.

Representatives of the agencies expressed their mutual willingness to expand cooperation, as well as share experiences and best practices in the field of protecting citizens' rights and combating crime.

But Moscow considers it necessary to move the negotiations from Switzerland to a neutral country.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said during talks with Abkhaz President Badra Gunba on May 9 that relations between Russia and Abkhazia were developing successfully. Putin thanked Gunba for participating in events dedicated to the victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII) in Moscow, recalling that Abkhazia had lost 17,000 inhabitants during the battles.
