The Federation Council tightened the rules of medical examination for migrants
Measures to combat illegal migration will be strengthened in Russia, as a result of which the authorities will strengthen control over the health status of foreigners coming to work in the Russian Federation. The relevant bill was adopted at the plenary session of the Federation Council on June 3.
According to it, migrants upon arrival in the Russian Federation are required to undergo a medical examination within 30 days. Doctors should make sure that employees do not have infectious diseases, HIV, or drug use. Before the adoption of the new resolution, this period was 90 days.
The doctor's appointment will be paid for by the migrants themselves or their employers. Only authorized medical organizations will be able to carry out the examination. In order to obtain a temporary residence or work permit, passing a medical examination will be mandatory.
Deputies of the State Duma (State Duma) adopted a draft law aimed at combating illegal migration and strengthening health control over foreign workers on May 27 at a plenary session in the second and third readings. Obtaining a temporary residence permit, work permit, or patent renewal will become impossible without a medical certificate. The results of the examinations will be recorded in the unified state information system in the field of healthcare (EGISZ).
