President of Tanzania arrives in Russia on a state visit

Tanzanian leader Samia Suluhu Hassan arrived in Russia on June 2 on a state visit to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The plane of the Tanzanian leader arrived at Moscow's Vnukovo-2 airport at about 21:00 Moscow time. Hassan's visit to Russia is timed to coincide with the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said on the same day that the two leaders would discuss building up bilateral cooperation. They will also discuss preparations for the third Russia—Africa Summit, which will be held in Moscow on October 28-29. The President of Tanzania confirmed her participation in it.

On May 25, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov welcomed the plans of a number of African countries to open embassies in Moscow. He also noted that last year the Russian embassies in Niger, Sierra Leone and South Sudan were opened on the African continent.
