Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan will discuss building up bilateral cooperation. This was announced on June 2 by Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.

"Prospects for further expansion of bilateral cooperation, primarily in the trade and economic sphere, will be discussed. Of course, the leaders will exchange views on the most pressing regional and international issues," Ushakov said.

Hassan's visit to Russia is timed to coincide with the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Tanzania is one of Russia's key partners in Africa. By the end of 2025, the trade turnover increased by 20% and amounted to about $400 million. The parties are developing cooperation in energy, industry, geological exploration, transport, logistics, agriculture and healthcare.

The leaders will also discuss preparations for the third Russia—Africa summit, which will be held in Moscow on October 28-29. The President of Tanzania confirmed her participation in it.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on May 25, Russia welcomes the plans of a number of African countries to open embassies in Moscow. He also noted that last year the Russian embassies in Niger, Sierra Leone and South Sudan were opened on the African continent.
