On May 31, Matvey Safonov's first coach Alexey Chistyakov, in an interview with Izvestia, commented on the second victory of the Russian goalkeeper as part of the French Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

According to him, Safonov's success is due to his dedication, ability to set high goals, as well as sociability and openness in communication.

"Now it remains to wish that our national team would be allowed to compete, and Safonov would win the highest places," Alexey Chistyakov said.

He noted that after joining Paris Saint-Germain, the goalkeeper quickly mastered French and began giving interviews in it, which won the sympathy of the fans.

"As a football player for club teams, he has reached his peak. I think he will only progress," said the coach.

PSG beat English Arsenal on May 30 and won the Champions League for the second time in a row. Following the meeting, Safonov became the first Russian to win the Champions League twice. For the 27-year-old goalkeeper, this title was the second in a row in the Paris club.
