The Russian Foreign Ministry pointed to the EU's inconsistent position on negotiations with Moscow.

The position of the European Union (EU) on negotiations with Moscow is inconsistent. This was announced on May 30 by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Over the past year and a half, we have been hearing from representatives of NATO countries about the need to start early negotiations with Moscow in order to establish lasting peace, or about the need to "pressure" Russia by supplying weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces," the publication says on the department's Telegram channel.

It is noted that this inconsistent position of the EU gives reason to "doubt the sincerity of their intentions." As an example, the agency cited statements by European leaders and figures in which they talk about the need for dialogue and at the same time call for "increased pressure" on the Russian Federation.

The Russian Federation does not refuse to negotiate with Europe, but demands respect for the interests of the country.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on May 29 that Europe could not mediate in negotiations on a settlement in Ukraine, as it was itself one of the parties to the conflict. He also stressed that peace in Ukraine would come faster if all countries refused to supply weapons to Kiev.
