- The military personnel showed footage of interceptor drones operating in their combat zone.
On May 27, Russian military personnel of the Center group of forces told Izvestia about the specifics of intercepting enemy targets in the area of a special military operation.
"The main threat to frontline logistics right now is the Hornet kamikaze drones. And, as always in the free world, when some kind of new threat appears, systemic solutions are required to neutralize it. And part of this system is a radar station. It hits for tens of kilometers, sees a 90-degree sector. And if a target is detected, it transmits a signal to the operators of interceptor drones," said Izvestia correspondent Valentin Trushnin.
A Falcon interceptor takes to the air to intercept an enemy target. The device is characterized by its low weight, which allows it to gain significant speed in the air — 150 km / h. The drone also has a stabilization system and can fly in several modes.
"The video quality is very good, we can see targets at a long distance. It has a remote detonation system: that is, when flying up to a target, we can not ram, but shoot down, even being nearby," said the engineer of the Sokol UAV calculation of the Center group of forces.
The warhead is located in the nose of the device. During the interception of enemy targets, military personnel mainly use the remote detonation method.
On May 26, the Governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo, announced that a new volunteer unit of the country's Combat Army Reserve (BARS) would be formed in the region to repel drone attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). According to him, the authorities are combining the efforts of the military, civilian departments and volunteer groups. The number of volunteers is planned to increase.
