The Tula Grand Prix international competition has started on the Tula cycling track, which turns 130 this year. The arena, recognized as the oldest active cycling track in the country, hosted the strongest riders.

Already at the opening ceremony, European champion Alina Lysenko was awarded the prestigious Silver Doe Award, an award given by the Union of Sports Journalists of Russia to the best athletes of the year. The title of the winner was awarded to the racer back in November of the previous year.

For the Marathon Tula team, the home Grand Prix began with a medal success: in total, the riders won 13 awards - 4 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze. The team won a full set of medals in the elimination race, where Gulnaz Khatuntseva, the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, became the winner. Marathon-Tula collected another set of medals in the women's scratch, where Alexandra Yurchenko took gold. Miroslav Suyatin became the winner among men, and Anastasia Demenkova became the winner among juniors.

Alexandra Yurchenko shared her impressions and thanked the home arena.

"It's very nice to win on my home track! It was hard, but the victory is worth it. The atmosphere on the track was unreal. The organizers did their best, thank them for that," the rider shared.

International competitions will continue until May 26.
