A bear wandering around a village in Primorye was shot dead

In Primorsky Krai, in the village of Terney, hunters shot a bear. The predator walked the streets of the village for several days and scared the residents.

According to preliminary data, the bear could have come out to people because of the work on laying power lines in the clearing area. His habitual habitat was disrupted by the noise of machinery and the felling of trees.

According to eyewitnesses, the predator was not afraid of people and moved freely near residential buildings.

The regional Ministry of Forestry told IA PrimaMedia that specialists went to the site immediately after they received the signal. They promptly began to inspect the area. It was established that the animal posed a serious threat to residents, including children.

In order to prevent a tragedy and ensure the safety of people, the agency organized measures to remove the predator from the natural environment. The threat to residents was eliminated thanks to a timely response, the ministry said.

The agency clarifies that 11 thousand bears live in Primorye. Their number is 20 times greater than the number of Amur tigers. There are both brown and Himalayan bears.

Earlier, on April 20, it was reported that in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, a bear that had repeatedly tried to enter the territory was eliminated near the Vostok training center. The actions of the animal posed a real threat to the life and health of citizens.
