In Thailand, on the island of Phangan, police arrested three Russians on suspicion of running an illegal business. This was reported on May 24 by the Daily News newspaper, citing law enforcement agencies.

"Among the 21 suspects are four Israelis, four French, three Russians, two Ukrainians and one citizen each from Africa, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Australia, Turkey, Germany and the Philippines," the publication says.

According to law enforcement agencies, the suspects may have conducted illegal business, including illegal land ownership using Thai front persons on the Thai island. The police seized 38 documents on land ownership for examination, the total value of which is estimated at 200 million baht ($6 million).

The Phuket News portal reported on May 6 that a Russian citizen was detained on the Thai island of Phuket for illegally organizing fishing tours through the Telegram messenger. The man was charged with running a tourism business without a license, working as a guide without permission, and violating the law on the employment of foreigners.
