The Ministry of Education named the maximum allowable gift price for a teacher
A gift for a school teacher, which some students will want to give as a keepsake to the teacher in honor of the last bell or graduation party, may cost no more than 3 thousand rubles. This was announced on May 24 by Mikhail Avdeenko, an expert at the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
"Employees of educational organizations can be given gifts, including on public holidays, but the legislator has limited the upper limit of the amount of this gift to 3 thousand rubles," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
Avdeenko clarified that the established amount limit applies to each gift individually if the family wants to give the teacher several gifts. The expert added that such a provision of the law would additionally be a measure to protect teachers from unfair suspicions and not put them in a difficult position.
On March 29, criminal defense lawyer Alexei Zatsepin explained where the line lies between ordinary gratitude and a bribe. He stressed that trouble is possible both for the one who gives the gift and for the one who accepts it.
In the case of teachers or doctors, he clarified that if help has already been provided, an assessment has been made, then small gifts are usually perceived as gratitude. An envelope with money, expensive gadgets, large amounts of money, and regular gifts may arouse suspicion.
