Trees were planted in memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War in the Moscow region as part of the "Garden of Memory" campaign.

Trees were planted in memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) and participants in the special military operation (SVO) in Balashikha and Reutov on May 23 as part of the international action "Garden of Memory".

The Garden of Memory is not just an environmental campaign, but an opportunity to preserve the memory of people who showed courage and dedication defending the interests of our country. Such actions unite generations and help preserve historical memory," said Sergei Yurov, head of Balashikha and secretary of the local branch of United Russia.

In Balashikha, in the park on Spassky Boulevard and on Zelenaya Street, residents, families of the participants of the SVO, activists of the Young Guard of United Russia planted maples, cherry trees, lilacs, mountain ash and chestnuts. In Reutov, the protesters planted 20 trees at the Memorial of Glory in Victory Square. Together with residents, deputies and volunteers, war veterans Margarita Alekseevna Mikhailyuta and Raisa Zakharovna Koroleva planted trees.

"We have always worked for the benefit of our great Motherland. We tried to have a peaceful sky above the earth, and we worked tirelessly when we were just kids. It was necessary to help the front, everything was for Victory. May these trees always remind you and your children and your grandchildren of the exploits of our fathers and grandfathers," said veteran Raisa Zakharovna Koroleva.

Alexey Kovyazin, secretary of the Reutov branch of the party, mayor of the city, noted that every tree planted is a living symbol of the eternal memory of those who gave their lives for freedom and peace during the Great Patriotic War, as well as a tribute to all those who brought the Great Victory closer.

The international action "Garden of Memory" has been held since 2020 on the initiative of ANO "Garden of Memory", "Volunteers of Victory" and the Memorial Fund of the Commanders of Victory. The project is being implemented on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On April 18, the International Ecological and Patriotic action "Garden of Memory", which is dedicated to the heroes who fell during the Great Patriotic War (WWII), started in Mozhaisk, Moscow region. During the event, the participants planted 85 lime trees. The action was attended by descendants of the commanders of Victory, volunteers, ambassadors of the DobroFon program and local residents.
