A rally against migrant workers was held in Kiev.
A rally was held in the center of Kiev against the presence of migrant workers. This was reported on May 23 in the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian edition "Страна.иа ".
"A rally against migration is taking place in Kiev on the Maidan. Slogans: "Ukraine for Ukrainians," "get out of Ukraine, ugly migrant," the publication says.
The protest took place because of the discussion in the country about the importation of migrants to solve problems with the labor force and demography. The participants of the rally opposed the attraction of foreign labor, insisting on the priority employment of Ukrainian citizens. Details about the number of protesters and possible incidents are not specified.
The last action against migrant workers was held in the center of Kiev on May 16. The Insider newspaper published footage showing the participants holding a poster with the inscription "Migrants need a summons." This appeal covers the issue of the influx of migrant workers from Asia and Africa.
On April 17, the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov (listed by Rosfinmonitoring as an extremist and terrorist), announced the government's plans to increase the influx of migrants from Africa to solve the problem of labor shortages. To implement the idea, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the country's Interior Ministry have been instructed to review the list of "migration risk" countries, which defines the rules for entry and legalization of foreigners.
