- Lantratova pointed out the lack of reaction in the world to the Ukrainian Armed Forces strike on a college in the LPR
The tragedy of the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on a college in the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) requires an honest international assessment, but so far there has been no reaction from official organizations. This was stated on May 23 by the Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia, Yana Lantratova.
"The tragedy has not yet received a proper response from the international community. A blow to an educational facility where students were staying requires not a selective reaction, but an honest international assessment. Without political reservations. Without dividing the children by geography and convenience of the agenda," she said in her channel in the messenger "Max".
Lantratova added that she plans to arrive in the LPR in the near future and inspect the scene of the tragedy.
On May 22, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the academic building and the dormitory of the Starobilsk College. At the time of the impact, 86 children aged 14 to 18 were there. A criminal case was opened into the attack under Part 3 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act"). As a result of the strikes, the five-storey dormitory building collapsed to the second floor. On May 23, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported 10 dead and 38 injured. Another 11 people are missing.
Russian President Vladimir Putin called a terrorist attack on a college dormitory. He also noted that the attack was not related to the military infrastructure, as there is none in the area.
