US President Donald Trump has decided to give diplomacy a chance and wait for strikes against Iran. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on May 22, citing American officials.

"President Trump held a meeting with senior national security officials to discuss further steps regarding Iran. The president did not make a formal decision, but informed his aides that he wanted to give the diplomatic process more time," the publication says.

According to officials, the American leader allowed the possibility of strikes on Iran if the negotiations did not end with an acceptable agreement.

Trump cut short his weekend trip to New Jersey on May 22 to prepare for a possible new wave of strikes against Iran. Some representatives of the US military and intelligence services, according to the channel, also canceled their weekend plans in anticipation of possible strikes.

Tasnim news agency reported on May 22 that the Iranian Armed Forces have prepared new scenarios for responding to a possible attack by the United States. It clarifies that the Iranian forces are monitoring the situation and are ready to act on new scenarios covering both the technical and strategic spheres.
