Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the players, coaching staff and fans of Yaroslavl hockey club Lokomotiv on their victory in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) playoffs. This was announced on May 21 by the Kremlin's press service.

"Throughout the tournament, you demonstrated a dynamic, beautiful game, prevailed over strong, worthy opponents in a fair fight, and showed true team spirit and cohesion. We have written a new page in the glorious chronicle of Russian hockey," the press service quotes the text of the telegram from the head of state in the Maks messenger.
