In the building of the Romanian Ministry of Transport, an elevator car fell, in which seven employees of the department were moving. This was announced on May 21 by the Romania Insider portal.
Teams of firefighters and rescuers immediately arrived at the scene of the emergency. It is noted that five people needed medical help.
Among the injured are a 38—year-old man and a 42-year-old woman with fractures of their right legs, as well as a 46-year-old woman complaining of pain in her left leg. Another 53-year—old passenger reported pain in her legs, and a 33-year-old woman reported pain in her right ankle.
"As far as I know, the elevator fell from the fourth floor, and the safety brakes, the drums that were supposed to lock, did not work," said Radu Raul Dorobanto, a representative of the State Inspectorate for Control of Boilers and Lifting Mechanisms in Romania (ISCIR), Stirile Pro TV.
In February, an elevator with eight passengers fell at a hotel on Phuket Island in Thailand: three men, two women and an eight-year-old girl. The elevator crashed shortly after the start of the ascent to the fifth floor. The victims received the necessary medical care. Four of them, including the child, were discharged soon after. Two Russians had to stay in the hospital longer with moderate injuries, said Yegor Ivanov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Phuket province.
