The Moscow City Court recognized the lawful arrest of comedian Semyon Slepakov.
The Moscow City Court has declared lawful the arrest in absentia of comedian Semyon Slepakov (recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) in a criminal case on evading the duties of a foreign agent. This was reported on May 20 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
Slepakov's measure of restraint was chosen for a period of two months from the moment of his extradition or detention on the territory of the Russian Federation. The meeting was held behind closed doors.
In 2026, 46-year-old Slepakov was twice brought to administrative responsibility. While outside the Russian Federation, he distributed materials on social networks without specifying his status.
On February 9, the Moscow Prosecutor's Office sent materials to the investigative authorities to initiate a criminal case against Slepakov. The agency indicated that since October 2025, while outside of Russia, it continued to distribute materials on social networks without mandatory marking of the status of a foreign agent.
The last time Slepakov was fined in September 2025 by 60 thousand rubles for late payment of a fine for the absence of labeling of a foreign agent in online publications. Prior to that, the artist was fined 30,000 rubles under the same article.
