Driving instructors will be required to undergo pedagogical retraining

The Russian Ministry of Labor has approved a new professional standard "Master of industrial vehicle Driving Training". It comes into force on September 1 of this year. The standard assumes that all driving instructors must be certified teachers, having completed appropriate professional retraining courses, Kommersant reported on May 20.

For the first time, the new standard introduces a mandatory requirement for instructors to have additional professional education in the field of Education and Pedagogical Sciences. As the interlocutors of the publication explained, the instructor should be not only a driving professional, but also a certified teacher, which should significantly increase the qualification requirements and affect the improvement of the quality of training for novice drivers.

Currently, to work at a driving school, it is enough to have a diploma of secondary or higher specialized professional education, as well as a diploma of completing a 250-hour advanced training course in the field of driving education (this service is provided by various technical schools and driving schools themselves).

The new standard also stipulates that the instructor must have at least three years of proven driving experience. Currently, it is allowed to work as a driving instructor if a citizen has not been deprived of his license for five years (this period is reduced to three years).

In addition, it is noted that the teacher will have to know not only the device and design features of the operated vehicles, but also the signs and causes of vehicle malfunctions and the procedure for their elimination, as well as safety measures when working with "electrified tools."
