Public transport operation on Eid al-Adha 2026 in Moscow
During the celebration of Eid al-Adha, the capital's public transport is traditionally switched to an enhanced mode of operation. The main burden falls on metro stations and ground transportation near the largest mosques and temporary prayer sites.
In the area of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque, special attention is usually paid to the operation of the Prospekt Mira metro stations on the Koltsevaya and Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya lines. In previous years, the stations continued to operate normally, but during rush hours, restrictions on passenger exits and temporary changes in traffic patterns inside the lobbies could be introduced to prevent crowding.
The Metropolitan Department of Transport has also traditionally increased the number of metro trains and increased ground transportation intervals near event venues. Buses and electric buses are additionally being put on the routes, and employees of the Traffic Management Center regulate the flow of passengers near transport hubs.
The changes may also affect ground transportation routes. Buses passing through the overlap zones are usually switched to temporary traffic patterns with a bypass of closed streets. Some stops near mosques and crowded places may be temporarily unavailable.
At the same time, the Moscow authorities traditionally recommend that residents and guests of the capital use public transport, since the movement of private cars near the venues of festive events is significantly hampered.
According to data from previous years, enhanced security measures and passenger traffic control are maintained not only in the morning hours, but also after the end of prayer, when thousands of believers simultaneously leave the mosque grounds and head to metro stations and public transport stops.
Where parking is prohibited in Moscow on May 26-27

The restrictions will affect areas near major mosques in Moscow, in particular, Bolshaya Tatarskaya, Minskaya, Shchepkina, Gilyarovsky Streets, as well as Vypolzov, Kapelsky, Klimentovsky and Ozerkovsky lanes.
In addition, on May 27, traffic in the Central Administrative District, ZAO and SVAO will be temporarily restricted. On this day, closures will be in effect on Durov Street, certain sections of Khachaturian Street, Kargopolskaya Street and General Dorokhov Avenue.
