During productive negotiations, the truce between Israel and Lebanon has been extended for 45 days. This was announced on May 15 by the representative of the US State Department, Tommy Pigott.

"The United States held extremely productive talks between Israel and Lebanon for two days on May 14th and 15th. The ceasefire agreed on April 16 will be extended for another 45 days," Pigott wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

He added that the political track of negotiations will resume on June 2 and 3, and from May 29, a security track will be launched at the Pentagon with the participation of Israeli and Lebanese military delegations.

The Axios portal reported on April 30 that US President Donald Trump advised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to limit targeted strikes against Lebanon. According to the American leader, the reason for Lebanon's involvement in the conflict is that an "Iranian puppet", the Hezbollah movement, is operating in the country.
