The wounded trainer told the details of the incident with the lion during feeding

Pavel Zabelkin, a trainer who was bitten by a lion in a traveling circus in Vladimir, called the incident a routine situation. In a conversation with Izvestia on May 15, he explained that he was injured because he violated safety regulations.

"They have special "pockets" open for serving food. When I was giving food, I put my hand close to this "pocket". When they eat, they naturally get turned on and become more active. They picked me up <...> and sort of caught me by the hand. It turned out to be a scar," Zabelkin explained.

The trainer noted that he feels well, but the doctors recommended that he remain under observation until tomorrow.

"They mended their hands a little bit, that's all, nothing like that," the man assured.

Investigators have already opened a case on violation of labor protection requirements, which resulted in serious harm to health.

Lions attacked a circus employee in Vladimir on the same day. According to eyewitnesses, after hearing the lion's roar and the man's screams, circus staff rushed to the enclosures with sticks, after which the victim was loaded onto a stretcher with a bandaged forearm. Zabelkin is a hereditary trainer, he puts up numbers with predators together with his wife.
