According to the results of the first four months of 2026, last year's cars accounted for 64% of all new passenger cars sold in Russia. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on May 15.

According to him, of the 382.5 thousand new passenger cars sold in January-April, only 36% were produced this year.

More than half of new cars (56%) were produced in 2025. About 8% of sales were made of cars manufactured in 2024.

"In general, this distribution of sales by year of production is quite adequate. At the beginning of last year, the runoff situation was much worse," the expert noted.

As reported on May 12, in the first four months of this year, slightly more than 5.4 thousand passenger cars with a mileage of over 160 hp were imported to Russia. This is eight times less than in January—April last year, when the volume of imports of such machines amounted to 44.1 thousand units.
