- The court fined Venediktov in absentia in the case of connection with an undesirable organization.
The Cheremushkinsky court of Moscow found guilty in absentia and imposed a fine of 10 thousand rubles to the former editor-in-chief of Echo of Moscow, Alexei Venediktov (recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent) in the case of participation in the activities of an undesirable organization. This was reported on May 14 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
According to the case file, on March 24, an administrative case was ordered into Venediktov's involvement in an undesirable organization, namely Radio Echo in Germany. This organization was declared undesirable in Russia in July 2025.
Venediktov himself did not attend the meeting. His lawyer noted that the journalist was not properly notified and did not violate Russian law.
A "live guest" does not belong to undesirable organizations. He has nothing to do with Echo in Germany. The recording was posted without his consent. The recording has been deleted at the moment, we cannot verify it," said Venediktov's lawyer.
On April 10, the court, at the request of the investigation, arrested columnist Oleg Roldugin, a suspect in the case of illegal use of personal data, until May 10. During the meeting, the investigator insisted on taking the journalist into custody, as there was information that he could hide on the territory of foreign countries. Later, footage of Roldugin's detention was published. On May 4, the Moscow City Court recognized the detention as lawful.
