The number of saved heart attack patients has increased in Moscow in 15 years

In Moscow, the number of saved myocardial infarction patients has more than doubled over the past 15 years, while stroke mortality has decreased by 15% over this period. This was announced on May 11 by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

"In 15 years, the number of saved myocardial infarction patients has more than doubled, and stroke mortality has decreased by 15%," he wrote in the Maks messenger.

According to Sobyanin, unified heart attack and stroke networks have been created in Moscow on the basis of multidisciplinary hospitals. Over the past three years, more than 6 thousand units of equipment have been purchased. Artificial intelligence helps doctors decipher images and identify pathology foci, the head of the city emphasized.

"The number of thromboextractions (surgical removal of blood clots through a small incision) and thrombolysis (medical dissolution of blood clots) procedures has increased," he added.

Sobyanin also drew attention to the fact that today in Moscow the average time from the admission of a patient to the hospital to the insertion of an instrument into a heart attack-related artery meets international standards. Doctors perform primary angioplasty and stenting for the vast majority of patients with myocardial infarction, and special drug programs are being implemented for patients with diseases of the circulatory system.

On May 9, Evgeny Kokin, a cardiologist at JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg Clinic), Candidate of Medical Sciences, warned in an interview with Izvestia that hypertension is not an age norm, and uncontrolled pill taking can be dangerous to health. According to the expert, arterial hypertension remains one of the most common chronic diseases in middle-aged and elderly people.
