Protesting Berlin schoolchildren called on Merz to go to the front
German teenagers, as part of a rally organized in Berlin by the School Strike against Conscription association, on May 8 called on Chancellor Friedrich Merz to go to military service himself amid his calls for the militarization of the country.
Dozens of protesters took to the streets of the city with posters. In their hands were banners inscribed with the appeals "Merc, [go] to the front yourself," "I don't want to die," and "Complete refusal [from military service] for this and any state."
