Sappers of the Russian Armed Forces told about engineering work on the front line
The daily tasks of the military personnel of the 1194 regiment of the Southern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation include mine clearance, transportation, ferry guidance and other engineering activities on the front line. The fighters told Izvestia about this on May 2.
"We went to Shcherbinovka, the guys were given "birds" for mine clearance. We were in Toretsk, picking up sappers from the routes. We spend the whole day clearing mines, building crossings, and doing engineering. There is work all the time," said a soldier of the 1194 regiment with the call sign Ares.
According to him, the work of engineering units is constantly needed — both when equipment enters and when infantry is advancing. He added that in one of the settlements, fighters were clearing roads of burned enemy equipment. As he noted, their excavator has been working day and night for four years now.
The soldier explained that the soldiers are not only engaged in mine clearance. They can deliver everything necessary to the soldiers, build dugouts and perform other tasks.
"The carts are very helpful. If everything is set up well, then it is extremely convenient for her to carry out the delivery. Especially if the sappers are far away," the soldier showed the equipment.
He added that Russian engineers regularly upgrade such "carts" to make it easier to complete tasks in the special operation zone.
The fighter noted that stormtroopers sometimes also take on the functions of sappers and undergo training for this.
The driver of the engineering company with the call sign Ermolchik also spoke about his work. He is engaged in transportation, delivery, and also takes out the wounded.
"I work every day. The most difficult thing is to transport people. UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) are always attacking. — Ed.) of the enemy, magnetic mines are also extremely dangerous," Ermolchik said.
According to him, during the first race they were attacked by drones, and two fighters were wounded in the legs. Now, after several years of such work, fear no longer prevents him from completing tasks.
Ermolchik said that during the work he had to reach the enemy at a distance of 2-3 km from his positions. During this time, he himself received one wound and two concussions.
"The drone exploded in the car, burned through the door, flew in and exploded between me and the passenger," he said.
On April 30, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian military had established control over the settlements of Korchakovka in the Sumy region and Novoaleksandrovka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). According to the ministry, the Ukrainian army lost seven vehicles, two armored combat vehicles, a RADA RPS-42 counterbattery warfare station and more than 240 militants.
Motorized infantry entered the village and gained a foothold in it under the cover of artillery and attack UAVs. Russian military personnel destroyed the enemy's firing positions and drove the Ukrainian formations out of the settlement. Currently, the fighters have begun to clean up buildings and basements.
