The left-wing political protesters also carried placards and called the American billionaires "clowns." The participants of the action opposed the receipt of super profits by billionaires, which they consider unfair.
"We work, they earn," read one of the slogans on the protesters' posters.
Earlier, astronauts participating in the Artemis II lunar mission also arrived at the exchange building. As part of the tradition, they have to ring the bell that will open the auction.
A day earlier, American activists also interrupted the speech of US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth during his budget report to the Senate committee, shouting accusations of war crimes. The official himself remained calm, took a sip of coffee and continued to answer questions. No arrests of the protesters were reported.
On April 28, a protest rally was held at the federal court in Auckland against the development of artificial intelligence (AI) against the background of the proceedings between Elon Musk and the leadership of OpenAI. Activists referred to the opinion of Nobel laureate Jeffrey Hinton, who argues that artificial intelligence is capable of "thinking," and therefore, if systems get out of control, humanity will face serious problems.
