Kostyukov said the United States is not interested in negotiations on Ukraine
The United States is in an extremely difficult situation right now, and it's not up to Ukraine right now. This was stated on April 26 by Igor Kostyukov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, in an interview with Pavel Zarubin, a journalist at the Vesti news agency.
"Well, you see what the Americans are doing, they are in an extremely difficult situation right now," he said, answering a question about possible negotiations.
Kostyukov noted that the United States is currently engaged in the conflict in the Middle East, they are not interested in Ukraine.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky proposed holding the next round of negotiations in Azerbaijan. Zelensky discussed the corresponding proposal with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. During the conversation, the head of the Kiev regime noted the important role of international partners in the negotiation process.
On April 19, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga announced that Ukraine had asked Turkey to consider organizing a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Zelensky. He also noted that Turkey is interested in resolving the Ukrainian conflict.
Yesterday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia is positive about the possibility of resuming negotiations in Istanbul on a settlement in Ukraine. He added that Moscow has never walked away from initiatives of diplomatic discussion and is ready to consider proposals from interested countries. As soon as the real proposal matures, Russia will consider it.
