Hegseth announced the globalization of the naval blockade in Iran
The United States has expanded the blockade of Iranian ports to a global level as part of a military operation against Iran. This was announced on April 24 by the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth.
"This escalating blockade has also become global in nature. Just this week, we seized two Iranian shadow fleet vessels in the Indo-Pacific region that left Iranian ports before the blockade took effect," Hegseth said at a press conference in Washington.
According to him, this week the United States seized two Iranian vessels of the "shadow fleet" in the Indo-Pacific region. He noted that these ships left the Iranian ports even before the blockade came into force.
The Pentagon spokesman also addressed Tehran, stressing that the blockade is getting tougher by the hour, and said that Washington is fully in control of the situation, preventing anyone from entering or exiting.
On April 22, Bloomberg reported on the passage of 34 tankers through the US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. According to satellite information, of the ships that passed through the so-called blockade line, 17 were loaded, which indicates the continuation of energy exports from Iran, despite threats from the United States.
