Russian gymnasts won four medals at the World Cup in Baku
A new success for Russian gymnasts: at the third stage of the World Cup, which was held in Baku, our athletes won four medals. All of them competed under a neutral flag.
The main achievement of the Russian national team in group exercises, which won bronze in the all-around. Gymnasts live and train at Alina Kabayeva's Heavenly Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy.
The athletes scored 52.9 points, which is a significant progress. A week ago in Tashkent, the team received 49.15 points and was in fifth place. In the all-around, this is their first prize in this series of World Cup stages.
The girls, who are the current champions of Russia, also received a special award from the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation for the purity of the elements. In addition, they won silver in Baku in the hoop and maces exercise. The athletes are coached by Anna Ustsova.
"We are very happy and happy that everything turned out so well and we managed to earn medals," said silver and bronze medalist of the third stage of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup Alina Proschalykina.
"We have already started to speak much more boldly, I already see a big step forward. You can see how we are moving, how we are getting better," said Anna Ustsova, coach of the group exercises team at Alina Kabayeva's Heavenly Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy.
Olympic champion Alina Kabayeva went all the way from setting up the exercise to successfully performing with the athletes. She was always in touch, supportive and gave advice. Choreographer Irina Zenovka also made a great contribution to this result.
Sofia Ilteryakova has reached the podium twice. She has a silver in the maces exercise and a bronze with a hoop. Natalia Glemba trains the athlete.
"We will still work, analyze our mistakes, maybe the attitude before going out on the first day, what went wrong. As it is, I'm happy," said Sofia Ilteryakova, silver and bronze medalist of the third stage of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup.
National champion Arina Kovshova, a graduate of Alina Kabayeva's Heavenly Grace Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy, entered the top 20 best gymnasts in the all-around. She's ranked 15th. Arina is coached by Elizaveta Chernova.
The next stage of the World Cup will be held in Milan in the summer.
Russian athletes performed brilliantly at the second stage of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in Tashkent and took home several sets of medals on April 13. For example, gymnast Maria Borisova became the best in the all-around, beating the Olympic champion from Germany.
