"Syria has been pointing out the importance of its strategic position since our arrival in Damascus last year, but the world really paid attention to it after the outbreak of the war in Iran. Syria is a safe corridor and an alternative route for energy supplies. This is especially true for transport links between the Persian Gulf countries and Turkey. Syria's access to the Mediterranean Sea makes it an excellent and reliable link between eastern and Western supply chains," the Syrian leader said.
