Italy announced the suspension of the auto-renewal of the defense agreement with Israel

Italy has halted the extension of the defense agreement with Israel. This was reported on April 14 by the Corriere della Sera newspaper, citing sources.

"[Italian Prime Minister] George Meloni announced the termination of the defense agreement with Israel. <...> This contributes to trade agreements in the defense sector," the publication says.

It is noted that the agreement, launched in 2005, was automatically renewed every five years. The cancellation of the auto-renewal, according to the newspaper, is perceived as political disapproval of the Israeli attack in Lebanon.
