In France, police rescued a nine-year-old boy who had been trapped in a van by his father since December 2024, when he was taking his last shower, BFM TV reported on April 11.

The child was discovered by a neighbor of the family, having heard a noise from a vehicle parked in the courtyard of the house. After opening the van, the law enforcement officers saw a naked boy lying under a blanket in a fetal position among the excrement. The child was pale, emaciated and could no longer walk, clarifies "Газета.Ru ".

The boy was urgently taken to the nearest hospital in Mulhouse. The investigation revealed that the man's son suddenly stopped attending school at the end of 2024, and no one has seen him since. The 43-year-old father, who lived in the house next to his 37-year-old partner and two daughters, said he had locked his son up to allegedly protect him from a woman who intended to place him in a psychiatric clinic.

The police charged them with kidnapping, imprisonment and failure to fulfill parental duties. The boy's stepmother was also accused of not helping a minor. The girls have been removed from the family so far, they will live in an orphanage.
