Bali Island Governor I Wayan Koster announced on April 11 that tourists who violated state law would be deported or tried.

"We have firmly demanded from the Chief of Police, from the regional immigration department, that harsh measures be applied against foreign tourists who commit unacceptable acts, and even more so crimes in Bali — either deportation or judicial proceedings under the laws of Indonesia, primarily in Bali. Now all these processes are already underway," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Koster also urged all Bali guests to follow the rules and behave respectfully so that the island remains calm, comfortable and safe for everyone.

In addition, the agency's interlocutor added that some tourists in Bali commit offenses due to the fact that they come with insufficient money for the entire trip.

On April 10, the governor announced that "Russian" and "Ukrainian" villages, areas where the Russian and Ukrainian diasporas lived on the island, had been eliminated in Bali. According to him, what was happening was contrary to the principles of cultural policy and regulation of the island. In this regard, Koster demanded that the head of the Gianyar district and the Chief of police take action.
